The Veteran Hotel & Bar enjoys a highly convenient location, directly opposite bus stops, the hovercraft, and the train station, with Ryde beach and shops also within easy reach. Guests often appreciate the good-sized rooms, some offering spectacular views across the Solent from large bay windows. There's a communal lounge and kitchen area equipped with a microwave, which many find very nice for self-catering. Some guests have noted music from the pub can be heard late into the evening.

Charming Stay with Veteran Support

clean room central location support veterans
I found the location excellent, just minutes from transportation options. The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable for my stay. I was especially charmed to know that money is raised to support veterans..
The water pressure in the shower could be a bit stronger, but this is a minor point.
Rooms
9/10
My room offered a sea view and a large comfortable bed which guaranteed a good night's sleep. The communal kitchen had all necessary equipment, so self-catering was easy and convenient. It included facilities to prepare meals.
Service
9/10
Staff members were helpful and friendly, ensuring a smooth check-in and check-out process. There was a 10% discount offered to veterans and current service members, a nice gesture. This added to a cute atmosphere.
Dining
8/10
The bar area showcased photos, medals, and plaques of various regiments and squadrons. I saw a plaque of The Queen's Regiment, a welcome and pleasant surprise. The bar provided a glimpse into military history.

Convenient location, GREAT experience

victorian building cute environment live music
I booked initially for convenient access to the hover port. The bus station is also literally on the doorstep. The regulars created a wonderful environment. The live music IS amazing and added greatly to the experience.
The music from the pub went on quite late on some evenings.
Location

The hotel is situated ideally for accessing public transport. Bus stops are directly outside, providing easy connections. The proximity to the hovercraft terminal offers convenient access to travel. The train station is also nearby for further travel options.

Decent stay

cozy beds sea view loud music late hours
The room was excellent it was well kept and clean. I booked the double bed with a sea view and it was worth it. The beds were cozy a fan was a big plus during the summer.
The hotel is on top of a pub and the music would not stop until very late. I was lucky to stay at the top floor and still the music was too loud. The noise impacted my ability to sleep.
